Former US President Joe Biden made an unexpected appearance on the set of the popular Prime Video series "Reacher" while filming for its forthcoming fourth season in Philadelphia on Monday, June 16.
Biden's chance encounter with the show's star, Alan Ritchson, who plays the titular character, was confirmed by a representative for Biden, stating that the meeting was not planned.
Ritchson took to Instagram to share a carousel of photos and videos of the encounter, where he met Biden and his lovely" family, including his wife Jill and son Hunter. "Was a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family. They couldn't have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious, and present," Ritchson wrote.
Ritchson jokingly added that they discussed "simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement," before Biden "beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day's work."
According to local news outlets, Biden and his family were out enjoying breakfast when they stumbled upon the filming of a chase scene. An eyewitness described the unexpected encounter, saying, "It was just something very bizarre that I never could have imagined, both things were happening at the same time."
This isn't Biden's first foray into television. He famously made a cameo as himself on the popular sitcom "Parks and Recreation," where he met Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) in a season 5 episode.
Though it's unlikely we'll see Jack Reacher and Biden team up on the Prime Video crime drama, the unexpected encounter has certainly made for an entertaining headline.
