Country singer Brett Young has revealed that he quit drinking over a year ago to prioritize his health and be there for his kids for a longer period. The 44-year-old singer shared the news during an appearance on the Today show, where he discussed his new album 2.0 and the changes he's made in his personal and professional life.

Young, who shares daughters Presley, 5, and Rowan, almost 4, with his wife Taylor Mills Young, said that mornings with babies were not feeling great after drinking, which led him to cut out alcohol from his life. "It wasn't serving me, my life or my career, so we cut that out," he explained.

The singer also opened up about how he's been focusing on his health and wellness, saying, "I've just been chasing it [health and wellness] ever since. There's a lot of information available to us, and I went down that rabbit hole."

New Album 2.0: A New Chapter in Life and Career

Young's new album 2.0 represents a new chapter in his life and career. He said, "It's a new chapter in my life. I've jumped really deep into health and wellness and trying to hang around longer for my family. It's kind of like Brett Young 2.0 at the same time."

The album title is not just a reflection of his personal growth but also a representation of his transformation as an artist. "I spent the last little over a year and a half kind of reinventing myself, redefining what I'm trying to accomplish not only with my career but with my life, prioritizing family while also being on the road," he said.

One of the songs on the album, "Full House," is dedicated to his youngest daughter Rowan. Young shared that having Rowan changed their plan for their family and made them feel complete.

Young's experience as a father has also impacted his music, with him saying, "I've always been hell-bent on being in the moment with everything that I write about, but I had a realization in the middle of writing the last record that being married and starting a family kind of changes what you can and can't do in that world."
