Legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell is set to release a massive 61-track compilation album, titled Joni's Jazz, featuring a mix of studio recordings, live performances, rare alternate takes, and material drawn from multiple decades and record labels.
The album, which is dedicated to the late Wayne Shorter, will be released on September 5 and is available for preorder. Fans who preorder the vinyl and CD versions will also receive liner notes with rare and previously unseen photos and original artwork by Mitchell.

Joni's Jazz features collaborations with jazz legends such as Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, and Charles Mingus, showcasing the profound influence of jazz on Mitchell's music.
In the liner notes for Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol. 4, Mitchell teased the upcoming compilation, saying, "People ask me my favorite of my albums, it's going to be Joni's Jazz."
Previously Unreleased 1980 Demo "Be Cool" Released Ahead of Album
To coincide with the album announcement, Mitchell has released the previously unreleased 1980 demo "Be Cool", with plans to release another unreleased demo from the same year in the coming weeks.
Earlier this year, Mitchell performed at the FireAid Benefit Concert, raising money to rebuild communities and help those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. She also performed at the 2024 Grammy Awards, marking her first time singing at the awards ceremony.
Joni's Jazz Tracklist Features Songs from Multiple Albums
The compilation features songs from Mitchell's albums Songs To A Seagull, The Hissing of Summer Lawns, Hejira, Mingus, Turbulent Indigo, and Both Sides Now, including a live recording of "Summertime" from the 2023 Newport Folk Festival.
One of the earlier recordings featured is "Marcie" from the 1968 album Songs to a Seagull.
