James Blunt, the singer behind the iconic hit "You're Beautiful," is gearing up for his North American tour, and he's not bothered about being labeled a one-hit wonder. In fact, he's thrilled about it!
The British singer-songwriter sat down with PEOPLE and shared his views on his career, which has been marked by both success and criticism. Despite being known for just one hit, Blunt is grateful for the opportunity to have written "You're Beautiful," which has brought him fame and fortune.
"I love that song. I'm so glad to have written that song," Blunt said. "I'm in a beautiful house right now as a result of that. You and I are talking as a result of that. For me, it's the song that I will always be known [for]. I will never beat that song."
Blunt's Back to Bedlam anniversary tour kicked off on June 12, and he's excited to perform for his fans. He's not bothered about the criticism he's received in the past, and instead, he's focused on putting on a good show for those who have supported him.
"I'm playing in arenas of 10 to 15,000 people. To those people every night, if I were to then start taking into [account] the fact that the one guy who picked me up didn't like my music, the perspective is there are tens of thousands who I need to give the genuine respect that they've spent their money and queued and traveled and booked hotels," he said. "I f------ love it. I've had and am having the time of my life."
