Kelsea Ballerini enters her 30s she is focusing on her overall health, prioritizing mental, physical, and emotional health to sustain her career and personal life.
The 31-year-old award-winning singer/songwriter tells PEOPLE that her goal is to be able to run around on stage for 90 minutes, wake up and take her dogs on a walk, and make time for her friends and family in the midst of her busy schedule.
Maintaining energy levels can be a challenge, but she credits her partnership with Celsius energy drinks and healthy eating habits for keeping her energized throughout the day. "Days are long, and I really want to be able to show up and be present for every bit of it," she adds.
When it comes to fitness, she prioritizes walking, which she believes is good for both physical and mental health. She is also a fan of Pilates, which she has been doing consistently for the past five years. "I don't want working out to feel like a punishment," she says.
In terms of nutrition, Ballerini follows an "80/20 rule, eating healthy 80% of the time and allowing herself to indulge in her favorite foods, like McDonald's, 20% of the time. She is also a fan of cooking at home, particularly making chimichurri steak, which is her go-to dish.
Ballerini's health journey has evolved over the years, and she says that as she has gotten older, she has become mentally healthier as well. "I think especially in my early twenties and mid-twenties, the idea of fitness was very much only aesthetically driven, and that was my goal," she explains. "But the older I've gotten, the more mentally healthier I've gotten as well, all thanks to a conscious pivot to being '360 healthy'."
