Nobel Prize laureate and bestselling author Malala Yousafzai is set to publish a new memoir, 'Finding My Way', this fall through Atria Books. The book is a personal account of her journey, including her rise as an international figure after being shot by the Taliban as a teenager for advocating on behalf of girls' education.
In an Instagram announcement, Yousafzai described the book as "a messy, honest and sometimes painfully funny memoir" that details her personal life beyond the spotlight. The memoir covers her "reckless" college years, meeting her partner, and coming to terms with her past while finding out who she truly is in the present.
Yousafzai became a public figure in 2012 after being shot in the head by the Taliban on the way home from school in Pakistan. She was a vocal advocate for girls' education and wrote about the topic under a pseudonym for BBC Urdu. In the aftermath of the shooting, Yousafzai documented her experiences in the bestselling memoir 'I Am Malala', and continued her advocacy for accessible education worldwide.
In 'Finding My Way', Yousafzai recounts her struggles to find her place in the world, including her "messy, honest, and sometimes painfully funny" experiences. The memoir is set to be published on October 21 and is now available for preorder.
Yousafzai is also the author of the picture book 'Malala's Magic Pencil', which was inspired by her childhood, as well as the anthology 'We Are Displaced: My Journey and Stories from Refugee Girls Around the World'. In 2020, the activist partnered with company Literati to launch her own curated book club.
