Dumped Islander Belle-A Walker is speaking out in defense of Huda Mustafa and Jeremiah Brown, amid criticism that they appear too perfect and closed-off in the Love Island USA villa.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Belle-A, 22, shared her take on the day 1 couple, saying that everything she saw between them was "so genuine and authentic."

Fans of the show have been vocal about their skepticism of Huda and Jeremiah's relationship, which has remained strong since the beginning of the season. However, Belle-A, who was dumped from the villa after Nic Vansteenberghe chose Cierra Ortega, is here to set the record straight.

"Huda and Jeremiah became kind of like my parents in the villa, and they definitely helped guide me," Belle-A said, praising the couple for being a huge support system for her during her time in the villa. "

"Huda was there to wipe my tears, and Jeremiah was there to be my wingman in so many different cases. And all of that seemed so genuine and authentic to me," she added.

Despite her love for the couple, Belle-A believes they owe it to themselves to test their connection and not get too comfortable. "I do also know that it's still early in the process. And if one of their heads were turned, it wouldn't be a crazy thing," she said.

Belle-A also praised Huda for being a role model, particularly for single mothers, and for being open about her 4-year-old daughter. "I am so proud of her going into this. I think it takes so much strength to do what she's doing, and really, she's giving representation to all of the other single mamas who maybe have never seen somebody like them on a screen before," she said.

New episodes of Love Island USA drop every day of the week (except Wednesday) at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock. Read more entertainment news.
